Here is an old-school classic kids’ outdoor game. Everything old is new again. Throw in your backyard playground equipment to jazz up any outdoor game.
RED LIGHT, GREEN LIGHT
One person plays the “stop light” and the rest try to touch him/her.
To begin the game, all children form a line about 16 feet away from the “stop light”.
The stop light faces away from the line of kids and says “green light”. The kids are allowed to move towards the “stop light”.
At any point, the stop light may call out “red light!” and turn to face the other children. If any of the kids are caught moving after this turun-around has occurred, they are out.
Play begins again when the stop light turns around and says “green light”.
The stop light wins if all the kids are out before anyone is able to touch him/her.
Here’s a twist: the 1st player to touch the stop light wins the game and earns the right to be “stop light” for the next game.
